Spring Pruning: Blue Fescue Grass

Early Spring is the time to cut back all your ornamental grasses.  If you live in an area with frigid winter temperatures, your ornamental grasses likely look similar to the Blue Fescue grass above.  It's a nice look in the winter when you're desperate for interest in the garden, but now that it's Spring, we want to make way for the new growth! The thing you want to avoid is waiting too long into the season to cut back...once the new growth starts filling in, it will be harder to cut back without damaging it.
